To be read aloud and shared via all digital channels to the parish of St Philip, Oak Bay, on Sunday, December 4, 2022
Friends,
I am pleased to announce that I have appointed the Rev. Allen Doerksen as incumbent of St Philip, effective March 15, 2023.
Allen was ordained to the priesthood in 2002. Beyond having a Master of Theology, he has additional education in both Anglican Studies and Transitional Ministry. He has served as an incumbent in multiple parishes in Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, Chilliwack, and most recently, at St Matthew in Abbotsford and St Thomas in Chilliwack. He is a lecturer and teacher, having led multiple retreats and seminars, who loves conversations about the “hard questions.”
Allen said in his response to your parish profile: “My experience in different types of church settings has given me an openness to liturgical, musical, and educational diversity. I enjoy crafting worship that is based on the enduring principles of Anglicanism but is malleable enough to fit the different seasons and needs of parish life.”
The parish may also be interested to hear that Allen’s wife, the Rev. Denise Doerksen, has been appointed the incumbent of Holy Trinity, North Saanich.
The Rev. Canon Peter Parker has graciously agreed to continue to serve as your interim priest-in-charge until Allen arrives in March.
I look forward to witnessing how, together, you will continue the ministry of the church and I trust that you will uphold Allen and Denise in prayers in the coming months.
Peace,
The Right Rev Anna Greenwood-Lee
