Music is a vital and exciting part of our worship at St. Philip, and new participants of all skill levels are always welcome to come and sing or play!
Our 9:30 a.m. Sunday worship features a rich blend of music including ancient chant to modern, played and sung by one of our musical ensembles. It’s not uncommon to hear songs drawn from both the ‘secular’ and ‘sacred’ canons – all of which express our worship of God! The music ensembles lead the congregation in singing, beginning the services with a time of praise music, followed by liturgical music and hymns, songs during communion and a closing song.
If you enjoy singing worship songs or playing a musical instrument, come along and join with us. A willingness to participate won’t commit you every week, as the variety of teams take turns to cover the schedule.
Each week the words to all our worship music are projected on a screen and we are always looking for folks who are interested in running the projection or the sound during the worship time.
To get involved, please contact the office at admin[at]stphilipvictoria.ca or 250-592-6823.
Other musical expressions of worship at St. Philip: monthly Taize prayer, starting in September.
